The Deal Wheel….

Sergei Gonchar continued the Great Washington Fire (sale) of 2004 as he was shipped off to the Boston Bruins for rookie defenseman Shaone Morrisonn and their top two picks (first and 2nd rounders) in this years entry draft. This marks the fourth big name to be dealt from the flailing Capitals…

The trade to Boston is surprising as being an in-conference deal…. But with the Capital sin full rebuild mode, it’s not too surprising at that.

Elsewhere, the Ranger$ firesale continued. After trading Alex Kovalev to the Canadiens yesterday, the Rags traded Petr Nedved to the Edmonton Oilers for prospects and a second-round pick\. Speculation has it that Brian Leetch will be the man that reaps the Rangers the biggest prize if they are able to deal him, but we will wait and see if that happens, now won’t we?
