Let me just say Thanks for the all the comments, Good and Bad. Bottom line is we, the coaching and ownership, just want to fight for the kids and young men playing in Florida...These kids just need a chance and some exposure..PLUS, we (FLORIDA HOCKEY) have a lot to offer, and it is about time our Growing Talent get a chane to Stay in FLA, and Play at a higher level...Media Coverage, Sponsorships, All-Star Games, Showcase Tournaments are on our Radar...We just need everyone get get behind our league and support it in any way shape or form...I know it is hard to find a schedule, but now I think we have an opportunity via the web site www.wha.goalline.com for people not to say NO, but say yes and come watch by printiing a schedule or keeping the site in their favorites area...Hope to see you @ our next game.

I recently had the privilege of reffing a SandSharks game. I will tell you that Dave Beaudin, the SandSharks coach, is doing a first class job with this program. He has brought great talent, systems, attitude, and work ethic to developing Jr hockey in Florida. This is not a goon league I only had six minors on each team. Powerplay units I felt looked really good and the goaltending was outstanding. Let's not forgot how much competition is out there and while Florida hockey still has a ways to go to compete with teams up north, they will get there thanks to Dave Beaudin. Also, congratulations to Joe Timpone who is working hard at developing the new Miami Toros program in Miami. Best of luck guys!

john- I am not sure if I disagee with you on that, but, The junior teams have more heart and more will to play the game then many nhl teams. Because honestly, they aren't getting paid for it they are doing it out of love for the game. Plus they are going to try alot harder the an nhl team. Because they are trying to make it to the nhl. SOME of the players in the nhl don't even need to try they;ve made it. But on the other hand I completly agree with you. NHL players have it tougher with millions of viewers watching their every mistake. It's just how you view everything.

While I think you are pretty enthusiastic, Ben, I would also say that you're a little out-there with your statement.

I - and plenty (read - hundreds of thousands) - woudl easily opt for the Stanley Cup champions over a Junior Hockey team any day.

Junior hockey's goal is to get these guys into the NHL and these guys goals are to -- one day -- hoist the cup.

The Lightning did that. The Sandsharks haven't. You do the math.

For some reason the link is showing an error. Try typing it in without using the link. It should take you right to the league site or you can click on the Oldsmar/Tampa Bay Sandsharks link in the original article and that will take you to the site.

You should come to see the Sand Sharks play one Saturday night. They are very talented young players, along with the rest of the SEJHL. The league is being run well even if there are only 4 teams, next year they hope to double the amount of teams. What is best about this league is that the teams are made up mostly of local kids who have been playing hockey in Florida for years. It's about time someone showcased the talent we have down here. You can find out more about the league and the teams at www.usajuniorhockey.org.
