Another Defensive Possibility?
I’ve speculated about Roman Hamrlik and if the Lightning have been in contact with him… Now there’s more defensive rumblings out there on whom will be on the market…
Brendan Witt is requesting a trade from the Washington Capitals, so sayeth Capital Punishment. Witt was a hot item of speculation during the 2003-04 trade deadline time and with the Washington Capitals gutting their roster, it was assumed Witt would be sent elsewhere.
Now, with the Caps making few - if any - moves and the outlook grim to abysmal for the immediate future as the team rebuilds. Witt wants out at age 30. Gregg Kenner at Capital Punishment adds speculation in his bitter goodbye to Mr. Witt:
I hope you rot in Florida for the rest of your career.

I would hate to see Ms. Brenda Twitt play for the Lightning. That guy is a pox on any team stupid enough to have him on the roster. The only reason anyone likes him is that he’s trying to follow the tried-and-true Capitals path to glory championed by Chris Simon: 1) be a goon, 2) get more ice time, 3) turn into a scorer. Except he’s missing that “scorer” part.

Comments by Feaster and Torts yesterday with regards to Boyle, Burke and DiMaio basically said to me that it will be a cold day in hell before Witt is on the Lightning.
Any player that bellyaches they want a trade is not someone who is a team player. It goes against Feaster and Torts M.O.’s when it comes to players. They look for guys who will contribute and give their all. Witt’s demands basically underline the fact he will not give his all unless under the right circumstances
