Heart-attack

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

If Ranger fans want to say this game was stolen from them — they can and can easily provide evidence (especially on Nylander’s breakaway in OT).

If Lightning fans want to complain about Referee treatment because Bobby Taylor barked about the Refs during the telecast - save it. A call is a call, you still got to play it through.

If Lightning fans wan to say John Grahame played hist best game between the pipes all year tonight, I’ll have to back you up on that…

Almost 65 minutes of play between the Lightning and the Rags and no one could notch a goal until Vaclav Prospal poke-poke-poked one in on the edge of the Ranger net and the game was done late in Overtime. A 1-0 Thriller. The Lightning played defense tonight and the Rangers played offense — 36 shots on Grahame, as to 20 in total on Henrik Lundqvist.

And for the first time in 5 games the Lightning were held to under 30 shots… Of course, thsi is coming on the heels of the 43-shot fest in Uniondale last night… This team is tuckered out and with good reason. Yet there is no rest for the weary — Buffalo is the next stop on this tour-de-east and don’t look now — the Thrashers are alive and within striking distance of Tampa Bay in the standings.

Recall, Recall…

Norm Milley and Jim Campbell have been recalled from AHL Springfield and will join the Lightning tonight at MSG.

There have been no published reprots that I can find but a friend told me that Ryan Craig has a hairline fracture in his big toe and that is why he was scratched last. It must be serious if the Lightning have called up more reserves to cover for him… It also must be a testament of a continued unhappy John Tortorella, who had his doghouse puppy Dmitry Afanasenkov starting in place of Craig.
