Never in a million years did I expect this

After seeing the Lightning bitch-slapped around by the Senators during the season and in the playoffs, I did not expect to see them eliminated in five games in the next round…

Congratulations to Buffalo who advance to the Eastern Conference finals.

It shouldn’t be too surprising - the Sens (and the Red Wings) always have one of the league’s best teams on paper only to choke in the playoffs. I guess round 1 just showed that the Bolts’ inability to beat Ottawa outranked the Senators’ inability to come through when it counts.

That and Buffalo is scary good.

The unsung Sabres finally get their due in the press. All season I’ve only seen one column that showed them the love. What a thrilling game last night, and magnificent game-winning goal. And to all you Sens out there, remember that Ottawa cartoon that showed a Chris Neil lookalike munching down a bowl of “Lightning Flakes” because they “Go Down Easy”? Well you’re breakfast cereal now. And the Sabres didn’t have to pull any cheap tricks to eliminate you 4-1. Cuz they got skills, plain and simple. Last laugh’s on you, guys.
Go Sabres ‘06. And the Bolts will be back on ‘07.
