Another blue-line investment
The Bolts have signed 19-year NHL veteran Luke Richardson to a 1 year, 500 thousand dollar contract. This attempts to solidify the blue line with an experienced NHl defensiveman and puts a bit of a damper on the idea that prospects such as Andy Rogers, Mike Egener, Matt Smaby and others would get a shot at the Lightning roster.
…well, that is, if you believe Richardson is a lock to make the team.

Last night Ottawa’s John Muckler stated that teams will consist of 3-4 high priced players and a group of cheaper ones ($450-900,000).
With TBL bumping their head up against the cap ceiling they will not have the ability to bring anyone up for an extended period and will shuttle players back and forth between Tampa and Springfield. Now with Steve Stirling in Springfield, perhaps they will have a coach that will mentor and develop the young guys, which is the essential way of developing your team under this new CBA.
