Eric E. reports Holmqvist in net tonight. Paul Ranger’s right hand makes him a game time decision.
This is a real challenge for the Lightning coming off their effort the other night against this Canadiens team. The question is — can they do it again? They are facing one of the top teams in the East that is looking to rebound from it’s poor Florida showing from last week.
If both teams play as well as they can, this is going to be a good one.

Happy New Year, John F, and great to have you back in cyberspace! I was fortunate to be in Hockey Bay for Sat nite’s MTL game, and it was nice to see the defense show up. Especially rewarding was seeing Prospal pot one at last. Behind me were Habs and more Habs, all very loud and very much enjoying the game. Interesting about Holmer starting again. He had some mighty saves to preserve the Bolts lead on Saturday, but I thought coach would start Denis in MTL assuming he’d put forth his best effort there. I’m hoping Huet doesn’t rob Vinny L tonite.
…and I forgot the game isn’t televised
We’re underway in the first and it appears that the Habs have decided to return from there vacation. 4 shots on goal so far in the first — they could barely manage that the other night.
Janik opens scoring! Unassisted on the Lightning’s second shot of the night. 1-0 Bolts
Still not quite doing much on offense (in regards to shooting). The Habs are peppering Holmer from all over.
Kovalev and Kuba score seconds apart. It’s 2 all
