The current trade for Peter Forsberg is the Nashville Predators statement to the rest of the league and to their fans, that they are committed to winning The Stanley Cup this year, no matter what the cost. This is a willingness to put all your chips on the table for the big win.
In Tampa we were fortunate to have developed three outstanding players. We also put our chips on the table a few years ago when we put our hockey faith in trust in Nicolai Khabibulin. It might be time again for Jay Feaster to show some commitment in this year's team and bring in a one of the big name players still left. One or two prospects and a draft choice will not hurt this team in the long run and will also show Tampa Bay's commitment to hockey excellence in 2007.
Bill Guerin and several others with cup experience and grittiness are still available along with several others who would love to offer their acumen to a bonifide Stanley Cup contender. All the puzzle pieces might be in place for a deep run at another Stanley Cup this year, but why squander a chance at being a great once again. Because nothing felt so good as having the cup in 2004.
