It's the end of November and the Bolts are now the proud owners of the worst away record in the league. Hummmm, is it time to let Tort go?

Hello John,

I was thinking the same thing. TBL daily transactions are conspicuous by their absence. They have been fortunate to have no injuries! The Springfield paper reports that none of the defencemen are worthy of being called up! Hmm, interesting comment, but they are the worse team in AHL. So we have to ask the question(s), "Is TBL scouting lacking or is the coaching deficient in prepare our young players?"

Dis-appointing trade dead-line. One puck moving rookie defenseman, and three slugs of which noone else would even bother looking at. This took all day to accomplish at trade deadline, for what? There could have at least been one notable helper to move in on the third line to help out with some scoring. I think at this point of the season you can start making T-Times at Cheval, because the Bolts will not have enough down the stretch to compete with Carolina or Atlanta. After the Dallas game you could definitely see the fatigue from the #1 and #2 lines, they lost the game because no one had anything left at the end of regulation and you can't can't play your #3 and #4 lines in overtime. I say that Jay Feaster gets a D- bordering an F for his trades. If he was going to foresake the season for the future he should have done it earlier in the year. But as far as helping Marty, Vinny and Brad at forward, I believe that he hurt them more than helped them this year. More trades like this next year and you will see Mr. Feaster's career circle the drain in Tampa Bay.

The problem is that teams generally get "rental" players before the trading deadline who are literally expendable by virtue of their contract, or lack thereof, following the season in question. Its a tough one - do you make the Cup run at the risk of losing a prospect or two for the sake of acquiring a temporary player who is unlikely to sign during the off-season.

As an aside, I thought I heard that ex-Bolt Modin is close to signing a new contract with the Blue Jackets. Any confirmation on that?
