So I leave it open for people to discuss — which team shows up? The carbon copy of 2003-04 with strong goaltending and dynamic play?
Of the chumps that can’t even put up a fight against the bottom feeders of the Southeastern Division?

Brian Bradley is now looking at tail lights. Vinny Lecavalier scores #43 and has nothing but open road in front of him! Congratulations Vincenzo! 1 all in the 2nd
With Atlanta winning, we need these points. This road trip could kill us.
Vancouver just scored a shortie after we had a one minute 5-on-3 opportunity we couldn’t capitalize on.
*sigh*
Looks as if the goaltending has gone back to the 2006 goalies.
Can anyone remember a game our goalies didn’t let in 4 goals? It seems very commonplace now.
I can’t remember the last time we really, truly dominated a game. The 8-0 against Atlanta in December? We always go down in the first and have to dig ourselves back out.
Does anyone now question these fantastic “grit trades” by uncle Feaster? I do believe you can now kiss this season good-bye. No goal scorers on lines 2,3 and 4 plus no goal tending equals zero wins and an early exit from the play-offs (if we even make the play-offs.) How can anyone say that they still like these great trades? Boy, I just can’t wait til the draft and next trade dead-line or the next goalie we sign. It just keeps getting better. Forget about catching back up to Atlanta this year. They pulled the trigger this year when it counted.
Erin — the last time we dominated was against Pittsburgh last month
Tim — so WHO would you have brought in? And how would you have mortgaged the team in order to bring them in? You can go to worst-case-scenario immediately when the team hits a rough patch, but there is still a LOT of hockey to be played.
There is a lot of hockey to be played. The Bolts have a solid defense, Holmqvuist can get hot, and maybe, just maybe, the first line can carry us through the playoffs. St. Louis and LaCavalier are in high gear and Richards has been playing well - the goals are bound to catch up with his level of play. You have to admit that Atlanta acted in line with their premise that “the future is now” by their recent acquisitions. Straight wins since the trading deadline, I believe. Keep your fingers crossed and your sticks on the ice!
John, I see how you wouldn’t want to salvage the precious young prospects and draft picks. Free agency is a fact of life and no team can win unless they buy the right chemestry of players at the right time. The majority of the Bolts that play now are from free agency. So why is it so empatically important that we not trade prospects and draft picks that we don’t even know if they are going to make in the NHL. I don’t see any Sidney Crosbys of Alex Ovechkins in the Bolts farm system now, nor do I see them getting one in the future off a draft pick. What would be great though is if we had a GM who would quit squandering opportunities to bring in goal scorers and good veteran players, I think we could be a Cup contender for along time. As far as who I would have brought in to make the Bolts a contender this year…Matin Gelinas, Bill Guerin, Zubrus, Smolinski, Nagy, Roenick and so on. With the approximate cap space we had for about $2 mil, there were alot of options. They were going to get rid of Alexeev anyway, so that created even more space. They also could have created additional space by dumping a defenseman (Janik or Pratt) my choice would have been to dump Pratt. Now since the Bolts have to fight through the roughest part of their Schedule with two slugs and a rookie who have not assimilated into the line up and probaly won’t til its too late, I can’t see the Bolts finishing the season any higher than an 8th spot, possibly backing into the playoffs. The problem the Bolts had wasn’t grit, it was consistent goal scoring by the other 85 percent of the team aside from the 3 Amigos. Why did Feaster bring in Shane O’brien when we already have Egener and Smaby in Springfield. O’brien might have had a little more experience than either of them but I didn’t see loosing a number one draft pick on a player that isn’t proven and so far has not been impressive. I believe Feaster was just making trades for the sake of not looking totally incompetant. The end result this year is we have three quality AHL players and a rookie who will most likely be the team goon. The posibilities were there for the taking but Feaster would have had to get off his doghnut box long enough to make something happen.
But you are right John, there is a lot of Hockey still to be played. I still love this team and hope they overcome this creepy draught and prove me wrong. There is nothing worse than watching your dream team turn into a nightmare.
BOLTS WINS 3-2 FLAMES downed in OT. Quit crying about the moves the Fat Man made or didn’t make. We put out eggs in the “Tres Amigos” basket and only go as far as they will carry us.
