The NHL announced finalists for their post-season awards. Vinny? Robbed of a chance to go for the the Hart but up for the Lester B. Pearson award. Martin St. Louis is a finalists for the Lady Byng (and wears a crown of shame for it). Meanwhile Dan Boyle was overlooked for the Norris… Not surprising with the stiff competition.

Why would Marty St. Louis wear a crown of shame for getting a sportsmanship award? This guy plays hard regardless of the media’s opinion and he will continue to play, score and impress. He shouldn’t care what someone’s fourth rate snob opinion is of him as long as he puts up 100 plus points a season. If this opinion is based on the assumption that he doesn’t fight, good for him. He is too small and his efforts are needed elsewhere on the ice. Good for Marty if he gets an award for sportsmanship, he’s also in some pretty good company for the running. Joe Sakic and Pavel Datsyuk are two great players that don’t have to apologize for how they play either.
