typeface?

I’ve been struggling to figure out what is the name of the Typeface being employed by the Bolts in their new logo layout:

Tampa Bay — what’s the font?!

In all honesty, the closest typeface I can find to font being employed in the logo is the Star Jedi typeface — yeah, that’s the Star Wars font for all those who don’t want to click on the link. I’ve been searching a few font sites but I’m not even sure where to begin looking regarding this typeface. Some people complain how “Cartoony” the font is, some people complain how “comic book” the font is… Yet it looks like a variant of Ariel or some other standard typeface and not cartooni-ish or whimsical in the least bit (that’s coming from someone who has actually seen what font creators think “comic” or “cartoon” fonts look like).

Any leads to the appropriate typeface are appreciated.

On the official lightning website the description about the new logo says that the font is a custom font, which would explain why you haven’t found anything like it. The description (or defense depending on how you like it) of the new logo is interesting. It at least makes it look like they put some thought into it.

Any word on that so-called contest where the fans could submit their ideas for the logo? I’m assuming it isn’t a true contest for the organization with all the new changes.
